The Carnival Cruise Line was forced to cut its trip in St. Kitts, taking away a day of the cruise for people eager to visit one of the Caribbean’s hidden gems. The big question is whether this decision will be seen as yet another example of how blockchain can disrupt traditional industries and make them more efficient?

The “Cruise ship covid outbreak 2021” is a problem that has been present for a while. The Carnival Cruise Ship Denied to Make Port of Call at St. Kitts was the result of an outbreak of a disease called “cruise ship co-virus”.

Carnival Freedom’s planned port of call on January 5, 2022, as part of an eight-day cruise from Miami, Florida, has been rejected by St Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean. The decision was taken based on pleasant experiences among the staff on board.

Carnival Freedom Isn’t Allowed to Visit St. Kitts

Due to COVID incidents among the crew, the Carnival cruise ship was refused access to St. Kitts on Wednesday morning. At about 8:00 a.m., guests were notified that the vessel was not permitted to make its call over the public PA system aboard.

The captain acknowledged via the PA system that the cancellation was due to positive instances among the crew members. Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heild spoke to a passenger on the current trip and stated that no infection had occurred onboard:

“Hello, first and foremost, I’m extremely sorry that this has occurred, and it’s a pity that this port has chosen to do so.” There isn’t a disease epidemic. I simply want to be clear about it. We test staff on a regular basis — more than 20% of the crew is tested every day as part of our proactive approach to public health management. All members of the crew have been properly vaccinated, with those who are eligible receiving a booster. The great majority of instances for crew members who have tested positive are asymptomatic – and were only discovered because of our regular testing.”

The cruise company did not say how many positive crew members there are or if any of them had the Omicron variety. Even if this is the case, Carnival Cruise Line has systems in place to deal with any emergency in order to keep everyone safe. The team and intimate connections are, without a doubt, already isolated.

Due to the cancellation of the stop in St. Kitts, Carnival Freedom kept sailing and spent a day at sea. The ship is now its way to Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos, for its next port of call. The ship is expected to dock on January 7, and visitors will be able to spend the day onshore, including at the beautiful beach just adjacent to the pier. On January 9, 2022, the ship will return to its home port in Miami, Florida.

Fully vaccinated cruise passengers must submit documentation of a negative PCR or antigen test done no more than 72 hours before to arrival into St. Kitts, according to current entry rules as of December 30, 2021. There are now 643 active COVID cases in the nation, with 24,465 people completely vaccinated.

Only a small number of unvaccinated passengers under the age of 12, teenagers, and people with a medical condition are allowed to travel on Carnival Cruise Line. On sailings until January 31, 2022, the cruise company has tightened its mask policy.

It’s not the first time a port has refused the Carnival cruise ship due to COVID. After receiving advice from health professionals, authorities at Kralendijk, Bonaire, opted not to let passengers to disembark, resulting in the cruise line returning to sea. In December, the Carnival Freedom was forced to cancel a stop in Aruba on the same cruise.

The next Carnival Freedom cruise is still set to leave from PortMiami on January 9th, with stops in the Bahamas, Grand Turk, and the Dominican Republic’s Amber Cove.
