1. Norwegian Cruise Line has named its second Prima-class ship, Norwegian Viva, which will make her debut in June 2023. The ship will sail in the Mediterranean for its first season before traveling to the Caribbean for the winter of 2023-2024.
Carnival No. 2 Sunshine Cruises has started sailings from Charleston, bringing cruising back to the South Carolina metropolis. Sunshine will run four to ten-night cruises to the Bahamas and Caribbean from its year-round homeport.
3. The Viking Neptune, the company’s next ocean liner, was floated out at an Italian shipyard, signaling the start of the next stage of development. Neptune, like her sister ships, will have a gross tonnage of 47,800 tons and carry 930 guests in all-balcony staterooms.
4. The CDC’s Conditional Sailing Order (CSO) has now expired, and the cruise ship laws in the United States have changed from obligatory to optional. The agency is expressing confidence in cruise companies since their processes currently meet or surpass the CSO’s requirements.
5. Carnival Horizon is presently its way from the shipyard in Italy back to PortMiami, after an unplanned dry dock to resolve propulsion difficulties. Horizon acquired Carnival’s new white, blue, and red livery while it was being repaired.
6. Beginning February 1, if the original COVID-19 vaccine was performed more than 270 days before to arrival, Spain will need booster doses from U.S. travelers. At least two weeks before entering the country, the booster (or first immunization) must be obtained.
