The Playa Resort is hosting a white night social event for the Travel A.L.L.I.E.S Society’s Leadership Event on October 17th and 18th, 2018 from 7:00-2:00 PM each day (Friday and Saturday). The group will be playing games like UNO, Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly as well as other activities to win prizes sponsored by local businesses such as free drinks at Viva Zapote!
Jenene Mealey, a travel adviser with Canary Travel and a board member of A.L.L.I.E.S., envisioned the organization as a community focused on developing industry leaders when she founded it.
“We envisioned a group of like-minded leaders who would inspire, educate, and encourage one another. “We believe that growing the leader is the quickest way to develop the company and elevate the sector,” she added. “The Travel Allies Society was founded in order to bring together top agency owners and managers that value professionalism and cooperation in order to improve industry standards.” Grow the leader, and the industry will develop!”
In the spring of 2021, the Travel A.L.L.I.E.S. Society made its formal debut, at a time when advisors were turning to leaders to make the next step. The Female Leaders in Travel Conclave in Cancun and the Young Leaders in Travel Council in Jamaica have both taken place since then.
The ELEVATE Leaders in Travel Symposium in Riviera Maya was the most recent event. Playa Hotels & Resorts sponsored an extravagant White Night for the A.L.L.I.E.S. at Hilton Playa del Carmen for this leadership gathering. There was no hesitation in contacting Playa to arrange a lavish evening for the group.
“In Travel Conclave, Playa has always been a partner for the Female Leaders. Andrea Wright is dynamic, and she immediately wanted to make sure Playa was a part of Female Leaders in Travel, so when it came time to launch ALLIES, we looked no further than Andrea, and she jumped on board as a partner without hesitation,” the board members of A.L.L.I.E.S. shared, noting that this was during a pandemic when many companies’ budgets were being cut. “She believed in the ALLIES goal and that developing the leader would help ALLIES members and the Playa brand acquire loyalty.”
These leadership events aren’t just about selling travel or learning how to promote a particular location or brand; they’re also about encouraging travel advisors in leadership positions to climb to the next level. Attendees may strengthen their bonds by sharing their own experiences and learning from others.

The events of the first year have shown that this new kind of civilization is required. The expectations, according to Mealey, have been surpassed. Despite the fact that the organization anticipated to have 100 members by the end of the year, they have already received over 300 membership requests. The organization has grown from 25 women who led businesses with combined annual sales of 600 million dollars to 75 women who manage enterprises with yearly sales of more than one billion dollars.
The White Event was the icing on the cake, and the excitement was palpable throughout the evening. “In times of crisis, leaders do not remain quiet.” Leaders are present. Playa was the first to open in Mexico and the Caribbean, organizing memorable events in locations for travel advisers to experience what it was like to travel during the epidemic,” Mealey added. “This year, I’ve been lucky enough to attend numerous Playa events. Every feeling was aroused as I walked inside the White Party. Andrea Wright puts her heart and her into all she does, and she dazzled our Travel ALLIES Society once again! The attention to detail was exceptional, and the service was genuine.”
