Premium Marriott Amex Bonus Offer of 150,000 Points
on October 14, 2021 by Gary Leff
I am compensated for the content and several links on my site. Citibank, American Express, Chase, Barclays, and Capital One are all advertising partners on this site. My advertising partners have not reviewed, authorized, or supported any of the thoughts stated in this article. I don’t write about all credit cards; instead, I concentrate on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same). The offers and advantages described on this website are subject to the terms.
Chase and American Express have released large bonus offers for their Marriott cards, with one offering up to 235,000 points. Let me tell you about these benefits and why the cards work for me personally since I have two Marriott credit cards.
My Marriott Bonvoy BrilliantTM American Express® Card and Marriott Bonvoy BusinessTM American Express® Card are both in my possession. I don’t spend much on these cards, but they’ve both been kind to me for a long time.
- Each of their yearly free nights is worth more than their respective annual costs.
- Each one entitles me to 15 Marriott elite nights, which contribute toward both earning status and lifetime elite status.
Marriott Business Card Offer via American Express
Let me be quick since I’ve already written about the Marriott Bonvoy BusinessTM American Express® Card in the last few days.
After making $5,000 in qualifying purchases with your new card during the first three months, you may receive 125,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points and two bonus Free Night Awards. Each extra Free Night Award is redeemable for a maximum of 50,000 points. With this promotion, you might earn up to 225,000 points by November 3, 2021.
This card has an annual charge of $125. (See the prices and fees page for further information.) When it comes to the cost (which is well worth it the first year! ), I maintain the card since every year on my account anniversary, I get a Free Night Award. That night is redeemable for up to 35,000 points, and I’ve been able to get $200+ worth of value out of it.
Those who do use the card win another Free Night Award with the same value after spending $60,000 on it in a calendar year. The card comes with Silver elite status, and $35,000 in qualified purchases in a calendar year achieves Gold membership. In addition, cardholders are entitled to 15 elite nights each year.
Cardholders of the Premium American Express Consumer Card
After you use your new Marriott Bonvoy BrilliantTM American Express® Card to make $5,000 in eligible purchases during the first three months of cardmembership, you may receive 150,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points and a bonus Free Night Award – applicable for a redemption costing up to 85,000 points. This deal will end on November 3, 2021.
From the original bonus offer, you may earn up to 235,000 points. The last time I published a Marriott point valuation, I came up with a figure of $0.007 per point, implying that this offer may be worth $1645 in total. Even if the value has dropped to $0.006, that’s still $1410 — a fantastic bonus.
This card now has a $450 annual charge (See Rates & Fees). For qualifying purchases at Marriott Bonvoy hotels, you may obtain up to $300 in statement credits per cardmembership year at that pricing range. The card also includes a Priority Pass Select card, which entitles you to unrestricted access to airport lounges.
Plus, every year following your card account anniversary, you’ll get a free Night Award, redeemable on redemptions up to 50,000 points.
Here’s how I’ve justified retaining the card for myself:
- I have $300 in statement credits that I may use towards lodging expenses.
- I’ve had no trouble earning $300 in value on a free night.
This is much greater than the card’s cost. Then there’s Priority Pass Select, which I already have from other cards, so I don’t include it in my calculations (though it’s a useful travel tool if you don’t have one). And the card nets me 15 elite nights.
You can only obtain the card bonus once, and you won’t be eligible if you have or had a Ritz-Carlton card in the last 30 days, or if you’ve acquired one in the last 90 days, or if you’ve gotten a bonus or upgrade offer for a Chase Marriott card in the last 24 months.
Several readers have expressed astonishment at receiving this card; I don’t believe it’s as difficult to get as people may expect, considering its premium status.
When applying for one of these cards, keep the following in mind:
I’ve already expressed my dissatisfaction with the Marriott program. One source of annoyance is resort fees; free nights aren’t always really free. However, since they offer such a large selection of hotels that I wish to stay at, I have no problem utilizing points.
If you want to remain under Chase’s 5/24 rule, the business card is the way to go since it doesn’t report to personal credit and shouldn’t count against your total. The premium consumer card is difficult to top if you’re seeking for the best deal.
